New Structure for a New Way of Studying

The `dual´ degree courses at University 21 are the only undergraduate programmes of their kind across Germany. The practice-oriented apprach, the possible additional obtainment of a Certificate of Proficiency or Master Craftsman´s Diploma, as well as the university´s proximity to Hamburg make the degree courses very attractive.

New structures within its courses afford University 21 in Buxtehude a perceptible place on the map of European Higher Education.

The new Study Principle

The `dual´ study approach is a new principle that is derived from a tried and tested training convention. In Germany, during general professional training the trainee is educated in a company as well as in a corresponding vocational school, alternating between practice and theory. University 21 drew the basic structures for its completely new degree courses from this successful `dual´training convention and purposively extends its academic teaching far beyond the conventional limits.

Instead of almost exclusively giving priority to theoretical study, as is usually the case in Higher Education, University 21 in Buxtehude emphasises the importance of practical, work-related skills.

Instituted Infrastructure

University 21 already has a well-established infrastructure because it continues to utilise fittings and furnishings of the former University of Applied Sciences. A virtual tour around University 21 shows how perfectly the existing structures support the new aims.   The associates of the private university as well as a sponsorship association actively support and accompany the new degree courses.

Attractive Courses near Hamburg

Students who opt for `dual´ study in Buxtehude secure themselves a double victory. The training allowance, stipulated in a contract and paid by the company, helps to finance the tuition fees. In addition, the cost of living near a very attractive metropolis such as the vibrant city of Hamburg can be much lower than living within the city itself.

Buxtehude warmly welcomes progression into Higher Education - University 21.
