A Health Job with Prospects
The health sector is one of the growth sectors in today’s economy and the demographically aging society will reinforce this trend. Physiotherapy and other health professions are looking at a future in which increasing importance will be placed on minimising costs and maximising the efficiency of physiotherapeutic care to maintain the quality of life and independence of patients.
A multifaceted image
The occupational image of physiotherapy is more versatile than ever before. It could involve work with athletes, children, old people, people with disabilities or illnesses or in professional health promotion, research and teaching, in disease prevention or in management. If you would like to work in a people-focussed health environment, you will find a field in this profession which is ideally suited to your needs and interests.
New challenges
Health insurance, legislators, customers and patients are continuously making higher demands. This impels the profession to advance which, in turn, makes it more interesting: Research, teaching, management, the development of new occupational areas and Europeanisation all enable physiotherapists to follow an exciting career path in a wide variety of dynamic fields - many of which would not have been imaginable until recently! Taking advantage of the opportunities this profession provides is certainly easier with an undergraduate degree which is increasingly becoming a requirement.

Graduates are not only fully equipped for the practical aspects of their future careers, they also finish their education with the means and qualifications they need to ensure strong professional growth and promote their career progression. The university and the vocational schools are part of a cooperative network and work closely to coordinate practical training and theoretical study.

This is something which more and more prospective students are realising. The number of applications to start studying this year far exceeds the number of places available. However, it is still worth submitting an application as the selection process does not take place until mid May.
The selection process
It consists of a written application, a practical assessment and an interview. Applicants will be invited by the registrar’s office. Those who would like to apply for a place on the 2012 programme and cannot take part in the May 2012 selection may participate in the selection process this year. Provided that applicants pass this process, a lottery method is then used to select students for 2012 entry.
