German Language Proficiency for Studies
All applicants have to demonstrate a good command of the German language during the application process as it is not possible to attend German language courses or perform a German language examination at University 21.
Language Certificates:
Only the following certificates (or comparable certificates) will be accepted by University 21:
- German "Abitur";
- Diploma (final school leaving certificate) from a German Gymnasium abroad in which German is language of instruction;
- Certificate of a program of study completed at a German university (including "Studienkolleg"),
- Certificate of "Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber" / DSH (at least DSH-2 is required)
- Goethe-Certificate of "Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung"
- "Kleines Sprachdiplom" or "Großes Sprachdiplom" from Goethe-Institute;
- Second grade diploma of German language (KMK);
- "Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache" (TestDaF) / Test for German as Foreign Language with a result showing TestDaF level 4 in all four parts of the test.

As some courses are offered in English, applicants should be aware that a good knowledge of the English language is expected as well.
