From Abroad to Buxtehude
University 21, situated at the border of Buxtehude´s historical city centre, offers a very special study atmosphere. The former Hanseatic town is as well favoured by it´s neighbourhood to Hamburg and to attractive scenic spots of the surrounding holiday district.
The Dual Studies are the speciality of University 21. That is to say that one year of study is divided into alternating theoretical periods at the university and practicals in a company.
Studies
At the moment University 21 offers you the following degree courses:
- structural alteration studies (architecture with special
emphasis on maintenance, reconstruction/completion
and modernization)
- construction and real estate management
The degree courses related to construction close after 6 or - starting from winter term 2010/2011 - after 7 terms (3 - 3,5 years) and the degree course mechatronics after 7 terms (3,5 years) with a Bachelor of Engineering B. Eng.), the course of studies physiotherapy terminates after 8 terms (4 years) with a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.).
Practical
For degree courses related to construction a practical contract with a suitable practical company has to be signed. If possible the practical contract should be signed for the whole period of study. University 21 may help to find a suitable practical company.
Regarding the degree course physiotherapy the accomplishment of a three month practical in a home for the aged, a social welfare office or a hospital is desirable. In physiotherapy cooperation exists with the school of physiotherapy of the Elbe-clinics in Stade/Buxtehude. The application for a training place at this school is included in the general application and selection procedure of University 21. Therefore you do not need to care for a place of practical training in this degree course.
Foreign applicants have to apply with special documents at "uni-assist" in Berlin twice a year (Physiotherapy 1x in autumn) and not directly at University 21.
Not every kind of entry visa can be used for studying in Germany.
Certificates about German language knowledge and qualification for admission to higher education are required as conditions for application. University 21 does only accept certain language certificates. Only those applicants who fulfil these conditions for application will participate in further testing.
Details about fees arising during the studies in Germany, e.g. like tuition, health insurance, living costs and accomodation in Buxtehude are to facilitate the organization of a stay abroad and help to settle the financial question in advance.
After successful application at uni-assist in Berlin foreign applicants who fulfil all conditions for application will get an invitation letter from University 21 with date for personal enrolment.
